LIVE PERFOMANCES
My live painting started off as a creative collaboration and blossomed into a bunch of really beautiful experiences that I had all around NYC (and a few times outta town). I paint with no plan, translating the energetic conversation between myself and the other artists onto the canvas. Some nights I create more than one piece at a time, jumping from canvas to canvas based on the performances. Below are a handful of videos of some of the pieces from the previous year and a half. I'm grateful that most of my live pieces have been sold and being seen daily.

VENUE: Secret Pour
EVENT: DSM Live Vol 1. (2024)
Painting: Delivered from a Meadow Saffron (2024)
Azucar's poem "Healing" is the main inspiration I worked from, below is a short video from the performance as well as the poem itself. DSM LIVE is a fundraiser for a mental health clinic to be opened in NYC by multi-hyphenate creative and licensed therapist Nicole "Azucar" Simone. When she asked me to paint at the event, I had never done a live performance before : Healing it cuts through like frostbite everything is fine at first sitting in your truth a calm breeze traveling around around the body until it picks up speed wisping by the eyes each scarred memory pins needles through the skin each love a goosebump in time each a ray of light bringing moments of hope recharging the soul for the next white crash of wave plunging to your surface a pin a needle a goosebump a pin a needle a goosebump a goosebump a needle a pin a needle a pin a goosebump it's suddenly colder needing a safe harbor to hold her fingertips start to prune nails turn blue crosslegged stuck in each ridge and groove one dungeon after another stranger to the reflection wondering how to ever break the glass and become one peace again breathe a breath of swords peel away a layer like glue on the hand looking the same thinking different covered in pins and needles each second merging into another Picasso to Pollack to abyss of nothingness yet you're containing everything omnipresent waiting for the omniscient breathe a breath of swords and honey peel away a layer like glue on the hand looking the same thinking different foreign heartbeat new language same tongue until the hands find the drum breaking the chains one link at a time one reverb, one reverb at a time until finally swimming because like riding a bike and the eyes like suns after the world's worst hurricane 11/4/2023
VENUE: Five n Dime
EVENT: RA OPEN MIC Vol (2024)
Painting: Amerikkkan Nightmare
I painted this bloody ascending staircase leading nowhere depicting our slip ups as humans while God watches us consistently fall back down. His greatest dissapointment and yet, He loves us. I was honored to paint this alongside some of the most talented poets in NYC. Special thanks to one of my best friends, Eboni Stevenson, who performed an original song for God and inspired a bulk of my piece.

VENUE: Five n Dime
EVENT: RA OPEN MIC (June 2024)
Painting: Do Not Silence Us
This painting is in NEW ZEALAND. For pride month, RA OPEN MIC hosted an LGBTQ+ short film showcase and it was full of tender stories of our multi-faceted experiences. I painted this piece as a protest to the erasure of our humanity. As a queer person, you live a safe life that everyone accepts but, there is another complex internal life that very few see. Never fully you. The woman who purchased the piece had 4 queer children and the stories of the evening moved her so deeply.

VENUE: Governors Island
EVENT: POETRYFEST (2024)
Painting: To Live and Die a Woman
"Who would I be away from you? I look like myself and no one recognized me." Meeting Reyla changed the trajectory of my live paintings and I'll always be grateful. She invited me to Gov Island where tons of poets were going to gather and perform their poetry on different outdoor stages. I was completely inspired by the talent and created a few pieces, this is one on the violence of womanhood.

VENUE: The Joint of Miami
EVENT: Artist Showcase (2024)
Painting: Bittersweet Takeoff
One of the hardest things Ive ever had to do was say goodbye to the same person over and over. Grateful to the owners of the nightclub and Jarova who curated the performances that evening. I had an incredible time painting somewhere I once spent so many late nights working my ass off.
VENUE: Brooklyn Art Cave
EVENT: SpokenMoon Open Mic Vol. ?
Painting: Mishandled (2025)
This painting was about mis- everything. Misaligned, miscommunication, mishandled...mistaken and misunderstood. There is a bare emptiness that emanates in a one-sided connection and I try to love for two more than I should. "Tell me who I have to be, to get some reciprocity." - Miseducation of Lauren Hill
